A Small Town in a Big World
When TV production people came checking us out…. they were looking for the three essentials every reality television show needs. i) Someplace in the world most people have never seen or heard of before, ii) a family owned business which contributes to the local economy and iii) individual characters living and working in the said environment. Even though the northern aboriginal peoples of Canada have been living in this boreal, subarctic community for 3000 years, isolated environments always create a wealth of subsistence measures. We call this local adaptation for survival in a harsh climate; however, the residents of North West River have learned to embrace. One can ride around Key West Florida in golf carts and electric motorcycles, we in Labrador can ride around our cities using snowmobiles and ATVs.
