In the early days of our forefathers and pioneer “white men” from Scotland, France, England, America, and Germany, came to Labrador began marrying into our cultures, making us who we are today. It was trapping, trading, bartering, isolated society supporting the famous Hudson’s Bay Company out of Winnipeg Manitoba. They, the HBC, owned all the business and controlled a monopoly back in North West River in 1836. But they did what must be done to provide the essentials of life of the economy of the community. Flour, sugar, milk, yeast, tea, raisins and ammunition. What more could a man want? We already had plenty of water and oxygen. All any man needs is a source of food to do what must be done!
